After the Capture of the Taku Forts in China (Second Opium War)

Collection of exceptional albumen prints from China and Japan photographed by several photographers (?) and collected by Albert de Luserne. Around 10% of the prints (particularly those that were taken in Japan) are hand-coloured. The prints were originally part of an album. For conservatory reasons, the prints were removed from their original backing and remounted on archival paper (see comment). Croppings of the original backing include handwritten captions and reflect the original order of the prints. The order is preserved in this dataset.
