Eureka is a European initiative grouping together more than 20 countries that want to promote cooperation in the research and development of new technologies and products. British Member of Parliament Robert George Banks talks about how a resolution was completed at this year's conference in Berne which aims at publicising Eureka's work better. The conference stressed the importance of promoting Eureka in Eastern Europe, where investment in the industrial world is in great need. Russian delegate Andrei Busygin is hoping that in the near future a Eureka programme will be implemented in his country, as until now they have received no benefits. Swiss parliamentarian Barbara Haering Binder explains that it is very difficult for Eureka to support economic reforms in Eastern Europe.
